July 4th Cover Contest Winner Announced!
The Bel Air Independence Day Committee announces that Eleanor (Ellie) Starbuck, a recent fifth-grade graduate from Red Pump Elementary School, has won the 2019 4th of July Program Cover Contest.
In addition to a love of art, Ellie's other interests include reading, singing, swimming, and helping her community through Girl Scouts and her church. Ellie also finds a creative outlet through participating in Destination Imagination. Her team qualified for the Maryland State tournament this year! It's hard for her to choose a favorite subject in school, but if she had to choose one, it would be math.
Ellie is a wonderful big sister to her brother Owen and sister Vivian. She is thankful to her parents, Marcy and Steve, for always being supportive. She is also thankful for the guidance and encouragement of her art teacher, Mr. Torres.
Our gratitude and thanks again go to the many Harford County art teachers who encouraged their students to submit drawings. "We had so many submissions," says Committee President Don Stewart, "I thought we'd never be able to select just one!"
Ellie's artwork will grace the cover of our 2019 July 4th Program. Our gratitude and thanks again goes to Committee Member David Williams, who again managed this year's Cover Art Contest. The Committee received many excellent submissions.
We want to especially thank Harford County Public Schools art teacher Jen Byrne for her support of our Cover Art Contest.
Here are the runners-up and honorable mentions for this year's program cover contest:
Programs are available free of charge beginning on or about June 27 at many Bel Air stores, restaurants, businesses and government buildings.
The programs not only include a complete schedule of events, but also maps and locations of events, road closures and traffic diversions, lists of sponsors and patrons, and more.
Thanks and we hope to see you on the 4th!
