July 4th Cover Contest Winner Announced!
The cover art of the 2021 program was created by Londyn Palmer, a recent fifth-grade graduate from Homestead/Wakefield Elementary School in Bel Air. In addition to a love of art, Londyn's other interests include reading, singing, and camping on the weekends at her family's place in Lancaster, PA. Londyn finds lots of inspiration for her artwork from her love of the outdoors. She can often be found hiking and even fishing on the weekends!
Londyn is the baby of the family, and has 4 older brothers: Jordan, Chase, Reese and Brady. Londyn is thankful to her parents, Kim and Lance, for always being supportive. She is also thankful for her art teacher Ms. Glackin’s guidance and encouragement.
Submissions to the Cover Contest were handled by Mike Blum and David Williams, with the huge assistance of Art Teachers Jen Byrne and Melinda Glackin. We are grateful for the support we have received from these art teachers over the years, resulting in the excellent series of cover art. We are pleased to include in the program the four drawings that earned an Honorable Mention in the 2021 contest, along with more information about our Miss Bel Air, who helped us choose the winning artwork. See that program spread here.
Our gratitude and thanks again go to the many Harford County art teachers who encouraged their students to submit drawings. "We had so many submissions," says Committee President Don Stewart, "I thought we'd never be able to select just one!"
Programs are available free of charge beginning on or about June 26 at many Bel Air stores, restaurants, businesses and government buildings.
The programs not only include a complete schedule of events, but also maps and locations of events, road closures and traffic diversions, lists of sponsors and patrons, and more.
Thanks and we hope to see you on the 4th! You are also cordially invited to browse through our official 2021 program!
